Royal Caribbean Cruise Line was set up by threeship companies in 1969. its first ship debuted in 1970, Song of Norway. it was followed by Nordic Prince, and then Sun Viking. Royal Caribbean performed the first ship surgery on Song of Norway. In 1988, Sovreign of the Seas debuted, at the time, the largest cruise ship. Their service used to be at the top of mainstream cruising, now it has gone down to and even is some instances below its primary competitor Carnival Cruise Lines. An example of this is food. RCCl ships tend to be more attractive on the exterior than Carnival. RCCL currently owns the largest passenger ship in the world, the 225,000 ton Oasis of the Seas, with a sister planned, Allure of the Seas (by the way, all of RCCL's ships end with "of the Seas"). It also owns the 3rd,4th, and 5th largest ships in the world, Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, and Independence of the Seas.

Celebrity Cruises was founded by people whos names will take up too much space, so I will just use their last names, Chandris. the "X" on Celebrity's ships are the Greek letter C, for Chandris. in 1989, when the cruise industry going full speed ahead, celebrity wanted to make a premium experience with spacious cabins and delicious food. When the line used to have an alliance with a very good chef, the line gained an amazing reputation for its food. today Celebrity says it is and is a premium cruise line. Some parts of the experience are no longer premium, but premium is still overall what the product is. celebrity created a new cruise line in 2007, called Azamara cruises, with two mid size ships, Azamara Quest and Azamara journey. Azamara's goal is to travel to more exotic destinations that the huge resort ships cannot reach.
